MILWAUKEE ? School is out for the summer, and 40 kids from the Milwaukee Boys and Girls Club are getting a chance to meet players from the Milwaukee Brewers. The players are trying to influence the daily habits of the kids during the United Health Care Health and Fitness Luncheon.
Obesity in Wisconsin is still a major concern, and it often leads to other problems like diabetes and even mental health issues. Organizers made sure the activities at this event were simple, and not intimidating. They just want kids to know that fitness can be fun.
The event also had information stations about portion control and healthy food choices. Players from the Milwaukee Brewers helped make these normally boring topics engaging with their stories about healthy living. Pitcher Manny Parra talked to kids about how healthy living gives him the mental edge on the pitching mound as well.
