Tablet Help Needed

Judging by your page, I'd have to say your problem lies in your choice of luminance (the darker or lighter the color) and saturation (how vibrant the colors are). There seems to be very harsh transitions which can give it that cartoon feel without the lines. I suggest heading over to Youtube and search for "speedpaints". Simply by watching these videos, you can begin to understand how different drawing in pencil and paper differ from doing it with image software, and how to better give smoother gradients when shading. Afterwards, depending on what software you're using, you can begin to dissect the tools available and how they work with the tablet, and how the effect your current brush.

How I started out with using a tablet is simply experimenting with a lot of different strokes (how strokes can be different than with a pencil), tools, sliders, and buttons. I wasn't creating anything fancy at the time (more like weird stick figures), but I found that a simple way to get everything into my brain.
