Can You Get Non-Comedogenic Skin Care Products? | Articles Zing

It may come as a surprise to you but many modern skin care products contain ingredients which may irritate your skin. Yes sadly it is true, many of the most well known names in the skin care industry contain chemical components which, if you really knew what they were, you wouldn?t choose to put on your face.

Many of them come from crude oil, some are known to cause skin allergies and rashes and some are even known to cause cancer.

Mineral oil is a good example of an ingredient found in hundreds of skin care products. Mineral oil comes from crude oil, and should not be found in any skin care product. It can irritate the skin, and if you look at a Material Safety Data Sheet on mineral oil you?ll find warnings about skin irritation and rashes.

So if mineral oil is not so good for your skin why would it be in there in the first place? Good question. The answer is not about great skin care, it?s about profits. Mineral oil is exceedingly cheap, in fact costs virtually nothing. There are natural, safe and exceedingly effective alternatives, but they are far more expensive.

The basic principle for using mineral oil is that it helps moisturize by forming a layer of oil over the skin to prevent moisture loss. The problem is that this clogs pores and, apart from the other issues of possible rashes or skin irritation, can also increase the risk of acne.

Non-comedogenic skin care products, or hypoallergenic skin care products, are products which do not contain any ingredients which can irritate your skin, harm your skin, clogs pores and cause acne or more.

It is not just people worried about acne that should be using non-comedogenic skin care products, it?s everyone. Non-comedogenic skin care products shouldn?t cause any adverse skin reaction, and good ones should provide optimum skin care.

There are many natural ingredients which provide high quality skin care but which do not put your skin at risk. Olive oil is one of them, macadamia nut oil is one of them, Shea butter, coming from the nut of the Shea tree is another.

And there?s many other examples. However in most cases these ingredients are more expensive than the chemical alternatives, and so it is only small niche skin care companies which choose to use ingredients like these to manufacture high-quality natural skin care products which are safe to use and highly effective.

And surprisingly they are no more expensive than the big name brands.
